Now, i reckon that if he wasn't really dead and they'd just made the whole thing up he would be in a pretty good position to expose them as liars, right, by, y'know, appearing on the internet holding a copy of todays' Jihadist Times.

Perhaps he died in the desert years ago and they've only just confirmed it so the whole shoot-out thing is a fiction, but surely a less verifiable and more convenient fiction would be if they'd claimed they got him in a mountain cave miles from anywhere.

But given that he's a CIA operative and is in reality enjoying a peaceful retirement in Guam at the taxpayers' expense I guess they're all free to say what they like.

We are however now going to have seven millenia of people shouting show me the body! followed by, that's not him for X reason, followed by: tell me the truth, all I want is the truth!

Of course, the Conts will have to contend with the awkward fact that the powers that be waited almost 10 years until there was a Democratic administration before perpetrating this appalling hoax. No doubt they'll find a way round that though.

The first thing I started thinking when I got the news this morning was how the inevitable "Show us the body" hysteria was going to shape us. Guess I was far from the only one.

So who's gonna belt out more decibels in this moronic shout-off, Team "Show Me the Body" or Team "USA! USA! USA!"?

team show me the body....euphoria dies quickly... suspicion and doubt are insatiable...

but you know that! you've been in a relationship!

See, I dunno, because "USA! USA!" isn't quite the sound of euphoria. It's a battle cry, a zombie mantra to decoagulate the blood and bring it to a boil. Hell, even if no evidence is produced that OBL is actually dead, the "USA!" crew can keep on chanting because they've got the guns and can/will kick your/anyone's ass just cuz.

"zombie mantra" - our recent Royal Wedding had a strange sense of mourning to it (the 'mood on the street' was even more downcast than usual, considering the extended holiday and nice weather). Even the crowd on TV looked half-assed and half-alive.

Is patriotism just political mummification (there's a meme to replace all those theoretical vampires and zombies), I wonder? And how does this relate to nostalgia and 'heritage'?

obama may have won in the end though, right? he managed to lure the us into two hugely costly wars and spending billions on security measures. money that could have been invested in healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc...

basically the same trick he'd pulled against the soviets in the 80s, and the us paid for that as well!

when will these superpowers learn, eh?

suspicion and doubt outweighing euphoria in a relationship.....

i quoted this to my girlfriend (we've been arguing for 2 days) and she said it sounded like bollocks and even the guy who wrote it didn't believe it...

as for obsama.... I just can't believe those rednecks gave him a muslim 24hr burial at sea. they paraded saddam's sons' pics around the media long enough...
