Shudder to Think were shamefully overlooked during their run. I always thought they were some of the most innovative musicians out there -- "9 Fingers on You" is a great example of how they could take odd lyrics, odd rhythms, and odd melodies and make a catchy, compelling song -- and certainly one of the best bands to come out of DC in the '90s.

Shudder To Think were one of a long line of bands that lived on the fringes of the Dischord nuclear family. Like 9353 before them and the Dismemberment Plan after, they were way weirder, more theatrical, and (consequently) more ignored than their more musically convservative peers. (Hard to believe people thought bands like Circus Lupus or Hoover really mattered.) Pity most people only pick up on these singular acts posthumously.
